ZEN V / V Plus Procedures and Usage

The Menu/Options button
is both the main menu button and the options button.

- To access the main menu, press the Back/Options button
.
- To select an option in the main menu, push the 5-way
Joystick up or down to browse through options, and then select the option
by pressing in the 5-way Joystick.
- To change options (for example, Timte, Date, etc),
press and hold the Back/Options button
again to view available options
For example, to change FM radio channels or presets, press the Back/Options
button
to access the main menu; Select FM Radio from the main
menu by pressing in the joystick; When the Radio menu appears, press
and hold Back/Options button
to view the options for FM Radio.

- Turn on your player.
- Press the Menu/Options button

You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select Extras, and then Date & Time.
The current date and time are displayed.
- To set an alarm, press and hold the Back/Options
button and select Set Alarm to adjust alarm settings.
- To change date or time, press and hold the Back/Options
button.
- Select Set Time or Set Date to
change the time or date settings.
To select an item, press in the 5-way Navigation Joystick; to browse
through options (a list of menu items), push the 5-way Navigation Joystick
up or down.
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select System, Player Settings, and then Owner.
To select an item, press in the 5-way Navigation Joystick; to browse
through options (a list of menu items), push the 5-way Navigation Joystick
up or down.
- Select System Player Settings Owner.
Use the 5-way Navigation Joystick to spell out your name using the
characters in the list box that appears.
- Select Ok. The main menu appears.
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select System, and then Player Settings
To select an item, press in the 5-way Navigation Joystick; to browse
through options (a list of menu items), push the 5-way Navigation Joystick
up or down.
- The settings you can change are defined below:
Idle Shutdown: specify the duration of idle operation before
it automatically shuts down. This feature helps you conserve battery
power.
Sleeper Timer: specify the display duration that you want before
your player enters screen saver mode.
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
- The main menu appears. Select System, Audio Settings, and then
select the setting that you want to change.
- The settings you can change are defined below:
Play Mode: select a play mode. Available choices are Normal,
Repeat Track, Repeat All, Shuffle, Shuffle Repeat, and Track Once.
Smart Volume: limit the volume range of playback with Smart
Volume. When enabled, Smart Volume ensures that tracks that are recorded
at different volume levels play back at a constant level.
Bass Boost: when enabled it enhances the bass in your track during
playback.
EQ: is a collection of equalizer settings that enhance the sound
of your music. You can select equalizer settings to suit the genre or
style of your music, or customize your own setting.

on the Custom EQ screen represents successively higher frequencies that
can be adjusted.
80 controls bass frequency
250 adjusts the low mid-range frequency
1k adjusts the mid-range frequency
4k adjusts the upper mid-range frequency
13k adjusts the treble frequency
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
- The main menu appears. Then, select the option you want to delete
the file from.
- Select Music Library, and select a music category,
such as Albums or Genres. Select
All Tracks if you want to search by track title.
- Continue searching with the 5-way Navigation Joystick until you
find the track or category of tracks that you want to delete.
- Press and hold the Menu/Options button and select
Delete Playlist, Delete
Album, Delete Artist,
Delete Genre or Delete
Track.
For more song management tasks, connect your player to your computer
and use Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer.
- Select Photos, and select the picture or folder
that you want to delete.
- Press and hold the Menu/Options button and select
Delete Picture or Delete
Folder.
- Select Yes.
- Select Videos, Video and select
the video you want to delete.
- Press and hold the Menu/Options button and select
Delete Video.
- Select FM Radio.
- Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick right or left to select the
preset you want to delete.
- Press and hold the Menu/Options button and select
Delete Preset.
Performing an Auto Scan:
- Press the Back/Options button.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select FM Radio.
- To automatically scan and save radio stations,
press and hold the Back/Options button and select Autoscan.
At the end of the autoscan, ZEN V Plus saves all stations as preset
channels and tunes in to the first preset.
Manual Scan and Saving Presets for individual Stations
- Press the Back/Options button.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select FM Radio.
- To fine tune or manually scan for a radio station, press the Play/Pause
button to switch to the manual tuning view.
- Manual Tuning View:
- Auto Scanning View, with Preset:
Note: If you have the Auto Scanning View, please press the Play/Pause button once
to get the Manual tuning view.
- Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick right or left to fine tune the radio frequency.
- Push and hold the 5-way Navigation Joystick right or left for
one second to scan for the next available radio station.
- To save a radio station as a preset, press and hold the Back/Options button,
select Save As Preset, and then select a preset number.
To enable volume restriction:
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select System, Audio Settings, and then Restrict
Volume. The volume bar appears at the rigth side of the screen.
- Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick up or down to adjust the maximum
volume that you want. Press in the 5-way Navigation Joystick. You will
be prompted to set a password.
- You will see 4 (*) asterisks. Use the 5-way Navigation Joystick to
set a password. Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick up or down to set
the first digit. Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick to the right to
set the second digit, and so on until the 4th digit is set.
To disable password protection for this feature, enter 0000.
To disable volume restriction:
- Press the Menu/Options button
.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select System, Audio Settings, and then Restrict Volume.
You will be prompted for your password.
- Use the 5-way Navigation Joystick to set a password. The volume bar
appears.
- Push the 5-way Navigation Joystick up to set the volume to the player's
maximum of 25.
- Press in the 5-way Navigation Joystick. The Restrict Volume
setting turns off.
Warning!
Stop audio playback on your player before disabling this feature. Your
player will play back audio at maximum levels when you increase the
volume to the maximum of 25. Listening to audio at high levels may damage
your hearing.

With your player's line-in cable,
you can directly encode or rip music to your player,
instead of ripping music on your computer first and then transferring it to your player.
- Connect the LINE IN jack on your player to the line output of
an external stereo source, such as a CD or MiniDisc player, using the supplied line-in cable.
- Press the Back/Options
button.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select Extras > Line-in Recording.
- Press the Record
button to start a line-in encoding.
- On your external stereo source, start playing the song you want to encode.
- While encoding, you can press and hold the Back/Options
button and select one of the following items:
- Pause
Pauses the encoding. You can also pause the encoding by pressing the Play/Pause
button.
- Stop
Stops and saves the encoding. You can also stop the encoding by pressing the Record
button.
- Split
Ends and saves current recording session, and begins a new one.
- Press the Record
button to end the line-in recording.
The recorded track is named LINE
followed by the date and time of the recording
(LINE YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS).
For example, if you record a track on March 15,
2004 at 2:57 pm, the track is named LINE 2004-03-15 14:57:00.
- To view and play back encoded tracks:
- Press the Back/Options button.
You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
- Select Music Library > Recordings,
and scroll to the recorded or encoded track you want to play.
- Press the Play/Pause button.

It may be illegal to encode files for trade or sale unless you have
the express or explicit permission of the copyright holder(s).
